Quadruped Love: Part 1

After many years of training, Reggie is skilled at sitting at the dinner table.

A companion is someone who is always there. And in my case, someone with four legs and a tail. Starting today, this blog will become my step-by-step puppy purchasing and post-purchasing endeavor. That’s right I’m getting a dog, sorry Dad, Mom and I have the final say.

For as long as I’ve been alive, I’ve had a dog. That is until I left for college. Saying goodbye to Reggie (yes of course named after Reggie Miller) and Gilly might have been harder than saying goodbye to my parents. This emotional bond we create with the animals we spend our lives with is irreplaceable. Just ask the inmates at the North Central Unit of the Arkansas Department of Corrections. Like the article says a wagging tail goes a long way. I just have to make sure it’s the right wagging tail.

So no dog yet, but that doesn’t mean the process hasn’t begun. I ‘m currently in the window-shopping, or I guess cage-shopping, stage. Beagles, shepherds, labs galore but which is right for me? Well lets first say this, I’m not a breeder gal, never have been never will be. That’s why my eyes have been taking me to the Indianapolis Humane Society. Shelter dogs have never let me down as all four of my family’s dogs have come from one. And all I can do in the up coming days of puppy food purchasing and de-chewifying my room is endlessly hope that my luck cares on to the next fuzz ball I love and the first member of my family.

In precisely five days I will begin my car-ride home to Indiana, in much anticipation of finding the right dog for me. So once I find the wagging tails and fluffy pup, you’ll be the first to know.
