Quadruped Love: Part 2 Meet Mackey

Meeting Mackey for the first time.
Mackey. The love of my life, of course named after Mackey arena is a 9-week old Lab-Shepherd mix. And a whole lot of loving. Mackey is the newest member of the Carlino family, and enjoying every moment of it, as am I.
Almost completely house-trained (yes at 9-weeks old!) and even knows how to sit, Mackey seemed like a no-brainer. So as promised here goes Blog 2 of true Quadruped Love.
So within my first few hours with Mackey, as he curled up in my arms falling asleep, I knew I found my new best friend and I knew there was definitely no step-by-step guided tour to owning a dog. But more of a trial and error learning process.
Trial One: The First Walk.

He didn't make it very far on foot...
When I first met Mackey it was at the PetSmart in Anderson, Ind. He instantly seemed like the rambunctious and adventuresome type, as he wanted to explore every isle, especially the ones with rope toys and Kongs. So naturally I expected our first walk to go much the same, pulling on the leash, running in yards and a lot of people chasing. Instead Mackey somehow turned into a leg weight over-night and decided to walk closely in-stride, maybe a little two close… We made it a whole two driveways before he came pawing at my leg for a boost up where the tall people walk. Apparently a walk for Mackey is chauffeured.
More trials are soon to come, no worries, first car ride to Chicago is fast approaching. Might have to do some mental training before that one! But before I end my weekly rant of puppy love I want to express the truly greatness of appreciation I feel for not only my parent’s constant help but for the support from friends and the rest of my family.

He's a snuggler.
I think those who know me best, know this animal is quickly turning into my life and something that is best for me. And those people who know me best are those who care about me, and I know will care about Mackey. Thee, possibly, most loving dog I’ve ever seen, curled up next to me as I type, I know will be cared for and loved by those who mean the world to me, because they are good people, and this is great dog.
So to my family and friends, Mackey and I want to thank you for everything you have said and done and will do in the future to make it possible for him to be snuggled into my covers right now.

I love Molly AND mackey
